Our Adult Sunday school classes are held at 9:45 a.m. in conjunction with our youth and children's classes.
Into the Word meets in Portable 1. This is an inter-generational class in which participants read a small
selection from a book of the bible each week and discuss its meaning both within the biblical context and in contemporary life. Major themes and narratives from many books, from Genesis to Revelation, are included in a one-year time span. No prior reading is required for each class, although bringing an open heart and a Bible are strongly encouraged.
Christianity Today meets in Portable 2. Our Sunday school class is comprised of adults of all ages and
backgrounds. The topics discussed are driven by the interest of the group as determined several times throughout the year. We cover modern-day issues as it applies to our Christian faith as well as Bible studies and book studies. Our discussions are lively and all are encouraged to share their opinions freely without judgment. This class also participates in outreach to the community through individual involvement as well as class support of various programs. Stop by anytime and check us out!
The Open Door class meets in Portable 3. We are a highly interactive group of people who study mostly
contemporary issues looking for a biblical foundation or answer on how to deal with the issue. The class is made up of a cross section of people and age groups coming from various walks of life such singles, couples with young families, couples with older children, and grandparents. We love this cross section because it gives us several different perspectives to the issues we discuss. Over the last few months we have studied topics such as the Decline of Organized Religion, Lent, State of the Family, Stress and Faith, Social
Networking and Faith, Good Marriage, 15 Reasons to Pray, Witnessing to Our Faith, Do Only Christians go to Heaven, Creationism Evolution and Intelligent Design, and Capital Punishment. As you can see there are
topics all over the spectrum of things we as Christians encounter or are asked to comment on everyday. We hope and believe that through the discussion in the Sunday School class, we can be better equipped to
answer these questions.
Christian Relationships meets in Portable 4. This class is for young (or young at heart) couples to explore the Christian foundations for the relationship between themselves, their significant other and God. Studies
focus on God’s plans and purposes for love, marriage and family. Couples span from married with kids,
married with no kids, engaged, and dating. The group also enjoys spending time together in fellowship and church ministries and is often together outside of Sunday mornings with these activities. Currently we are studying Love is a Decision: Proven Principles to Energize Your Marriage and Family - by Gary Smalley - six unit video series.
Christian Dedication meeting in Fellowship Hall, room 123
This class is open to anyone who would like to experience the fellowship of our group and the Word of our Lord through study. Currently we are learning about Paul, Silas and Timothy’s work in Thessalonica.
Historical information about the area, the people and the challenges Paul faced in transforming a pagan
lifestyle into Christian beliefs has generated great class awareness and discussion.
